Giovanni's Contraption

Giovanni's Contraption first goes into effect on December 27th, 2014.  It's located in Cinder Caldera just South of Mount Cinder.

The instructions for fueling the contraption are as follows... craft the ingredients needed to add a small amount of fuel to the fuel meter.  Receive rewards for each time you turn in the specified ingredients.  The rewards get better as the fuel meter gets higher.  Get boosts once the meter is full.

Anytime that you click on the contraption your game screen will tell you how much time you have before the quest is inactive again, the ingredients needed to fill the fuel meter, your progress, and the rewards each time you turn in ingredients.  Once the time runs out your contraption will no longer be active until a new quest starts by the game makers.

Retracing Frozen Steps

Retracing Frozen Steps is the very first quest given to us by Leif.  The northbound potion can be made at the Alchemist, whereas ropes and snowshoes can be crafted at the Exploration Gear workshop.

Ready to Rumble

Ready to Rumble follows A Hot Time in the quests by Giovanni.  It's a good one to do at the same time as Hot and Honey by Magnus.  Harvest your volcanic pepper patch, make 3 sweet and hot oatbars at the Trail Kitchen, and make 1 red hot bread twist at the Bakery.

Make 5 reinforced gloves at the Tailor, send Giovanni to Mount Cinder and collect 2 more obsidian shards than what you already have.  This is a good one to do at the same time as The Lure of Obsidian by Magnus because they both require you to collect obsidian shards.

Leif

We are able to rescue Leif from his crystal prison at level 37.  His home is located due north of the Well of Wishes in the Pinnacles of Ice.  It costs 72,000 gold coins to buy his plot of land.  For 40 gold and a wait of 1 hour you get 1 ice pick from his home.

Leif's first quest = Retracing Frozen Steps

Peppers Hot as Lava & Hot and Honey

Magnus then takes us to the pepper patch with his quest, Peppers Hot as Lava.  The volcanic pepper patch can be found under the resources tab in the Marketplace.  Harvest the volcanic pepper patch twice to get 3 peppers, make 3 red hot bread twists at the Bakery.

Hot and Honey follows Peppers Hot as Lava in sequence of Magnus' quests.  Gather 3 honey from your beehives, get 5 chili peppers from your volcanic pepper patch, and make 8 sweet & hot oatbars at the Trail Kitchen.  This is a good one to do with Giovanni's Ready to Rumble quest as they both have you make sweet & hot oatbars.

A Hot Time

A Hot Time is a 3 part quest by Giovanni.  The first part is pretty simple by crafting honey bandages and 1 stardust lantern.

Make 2 reinforced gloves at the Tailor, 3 lava hammers at the Gadget Shoppe, and send Giovanni to Mount Cinder.

Obtain at least 1 obsidian shard from exploring Mount Cinder.  Craft 1 obsidian blade at the Woodshop and 1 obsidian-button pouch at the Tailor.

Giovanni's next quest = Ready to Rumble

The Beauty of Brass

The Beauty of Brass is next after A Brass Fairy on Magnus' long list of quests throughout the game.  Collect 2 brass ingots from Giovanni's home in Cinder Caldera, make 3 brass weights at the Gadget Shoppe, and make 4 brass anklets at the Jeweler.

Tinker Time, The Genius of Giovanni, & A Brass Fairy

Giovanni's next quest after Giovanni's Workshop is called Tinker Time.  This is a good quest to do at the same time as Magnus' quest of The Genius of Giovanni and A Brass Fairy because they both ask us to do similar tasks.  All these items can be crafted at the Gadget Shoppe.

Ye Olde Gadget Shoppe & Giovanni's Workshop

The Ye Olde Gadget Shoppe quest by Magnus and the Giovanni's Workshop quest by Giovanni are good ones to do together at the same time because both of them require the build of the Gadget Shoppe from the Marketplace.

Collect brass ingots from Giovanni's home in Cinder Caldera and make 2 brass gears and 3 brass weights at the Gadget Shoppe.

Stilling the Rumble

Stilling the Rumble is Giovanni's second quest that will task us in making a few items around the Kingdom.  Make an egg bread at the Bakery, and a carrot soup and a cheese omelet at the Trail Kitchen.

Next Quest = Giovanni's Workshop

Braving the Volcano

One of the first quests from Giovanni, Braving the Volcano is a simple task of creating plain gloves, plain bandage, and gathering honey.  Next from Giovanni is Stilling the Rumble.

Leaderboards

After an update to the game in December of 2014, there is a new section of the game called Leaderboards.  Magnus will walk us through how to navigate the Leaderboards.

Tab #1 - Leaderboard
This is a list of the people that are at the top of the board and where you are in comparison on the global level, friends level, and within your alliance.

Tab #2 - Guide to moving up the Leaderboard
This tab shows helpful hints about how to move up the leaderboard and gain more points.

Tab #3 - Rewards
These are the rewards you get for being a rank of diamond, platinum, gold, silver, or bronze as well as the number of people in each rank.
Example: below there shows that the top 2 people get diamond rank, places 3 through 15 get platinum rank, etc.

Mount Cinder

The Mount Cinder Place of Legend is located in Cinder Caldera just south of Myra's.  The space of land that it sits on costs 16,000 gold coins and you must be at level 16 to buy it.

To explore Mount Cinder we need to have 1 honey bandage and 1 pair of reinforced gloves made at the Tailor.  We can send up to 3 heroes to explore the area at once and gain 700xp per hero for a total of 2,100xp if we send in all 3 heroes.  It takes 3 hours to explore.

We also have a chance of getting an obsidian shard, mystical orb, and as always golden vault lock and silver vault hinge.

Pirate Wreck

The Pirate Wreck is in Sunnyside Cove.  It is located to the far south of Sunnyside Cove land.  The space of land that it sits on costs 228,000 gold coins and you must be at level 35 to buy it.

To explore the Pirate Wreck we need to have 1 water compass from the Exploration Gear shop, 3 ladders, and 1 turquoise turtle from the Stone Carver.  We can send up to 4 heroes to explore the area at once.

Here we receive 900xp per hero sent in to explore for a total of 3,600xp for sending all 4 heroes.  It takes 4 hours to explore fully.  We also have a chance of getting a kraken fang, iridescent scale, emerald, ruby and as always golden vault lock and silver vault hinge.

Kringle's Konundrum

In December 2014, a new special quest arises.  Kringle's Konundrum aka Yule Event can be accessed by clicking the Event Center.  The Kingdom is covered with silky snow.

Kris Kringle can be found for 27 days hire for free in the Marketplace.  He will help us find items to complete this mission.  Both a reindeer mill and a mint patch can be found under the resources tab for 5,500 gold each.  The reindeer mill takes 6 hrs to build and the mint patch takes 5 min to build.
Mint patch = 1 water and 30 min for 2 mint leaves
Reindeer = 1 reindeer feed (made at the Trail Kitchen) and 1 hr for 10 festive cheers

Click on the Event Center or the progress bar located at the bottom of your game screen to access specifics about this quest.

Tab #1 - General Information and Timer
This tab gives the amount of time you have to complete this quest as well as general information like the specific parts or chapters of the quest and access to the small quests that help you along the way.

Tab #2 - Progress
This tab shows how much time we have to complete the mini missions within a larger special quest, tips on how to complete these mini missions, and a progress bar.

Tab #3 - Helpful Hints
Hints and specifics on what you need to do to complete the section of the quest that you are currently in.

Tab #4 - Reward
This tab tells about the rewards that you get for completing the tasks given to you.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I have found that a lot of yule item drops don't occur until a day or two after the quests begin.  If you are having trouble getting an item the first 3 or 4 times you harvest, wait a day and then try again.  (I had this happen with foundation stones, cowbells, and sugar cookies)

Week 1
As usual for these kinds of quests, we have small mini missions to help us out along the way...
Reindeer feed is made at the Trail Kitchen for 4 mint leaves, 5 oat, and 30 min

Reindeer Bait - slot 1 week 1

Reindeer Wrangler quest requires us to do the I Believe They Can Fly quest (shown below) 3 times and the Elf Door quest 3 times.  Hint: You cannot get the items for these quests unless you click "repeat" for those quests on tab #1 of the Event Center.  This will let you repeat the quest and allow you to get the items needed from Dragon's Clutch.

A Matter of Belief - slot 2 week 1

I Believe They Can Fly - slot 3 week 1

Week 2
Picky Toymakers - slot 1 week 2 - Rafael can gather foundation stones by exploring the Ancient Watchtower and elf treats can be found by harvesting honey from beehives

The Elf Door - slot 2 week 2 - Get Helpers Hats from herding sheep pastures, and get doors by harvesting your lumber yard

Herding Toymakers - slot 3 week 2

Week 3 - Toy Workshop
The Toy Workshop can be found in the Marketplace for 24,000 gold.  It takes 5 hours to build.  You will need for these next couple of quests.

Magic bell sets, never ending nesting dolls, and toy tool sets can be crafted at the Toy Workshop.  Helpers tools that drop from exploring Dragon's Clutch did not reactivate in my game until I repeated the Herding Toymakers quest from week 2.  Kringle's tools can be dropped when collecting festive cheer from the reindeer.

Kringles Tools - slot 1 week 3

A Taste for Peppermint - slot 2 week 3 - Peppermint sticks are dropped by harvesting apple trees.

Sleigh fuel is made at the Trail Kitchen with 2 eggnog and 2 chocolate chip cookies.  Eggnog is made with 4 milk and 4 egg and chocolate chip cookies are made with 5 oats and 3 chocolate chips (found at the Gateway of Luck).

Get snowglobes by harvesting carrot patches.  Enchanted branches can be found by harvesting lemon trees and put to use in making the never ending nesting dolls at the Toy Workshop.  To make Kris' bottomless bag, you need red paint which can be found by harvesting volcanic peppers.

It's in the Bag - slot 1, week 4 - get snowglobes from harvesting carrots

Sleigh Fuel - slot 2, week 4 - Lumps of Coal can be found by exploring Mount Cinder.

After completion of all the quests in each slot of the main quest (not worrying about those quests that are not a part of the main quest such as Full of Festive Cheer and Master Toymaker), you will receive the Mystical Green Snowman!  This snowman has special powers.

Place him in an area where there is a field inside his blue circle... my suggestion is to move him around where needed or keep him in a spot surrounded by 4-5 feilds that we need all the time (like oats and wool).  When he has an exclamation point above his head, click on him to activate his power.  He will use his special power by giving extra items when a field is harvested in his blue circle.  But be smart about your placement because you can only use him once every 6 hrs.
