Better Late than Never helps us use the Ancient Watchtower exploration and oats harvest.
This time when we go to the Watchtower (1 torch needed) you are given options of heroes to send in. Make sure to choose Rafael. He takes 3 minutes to explore and brings back 15xp and sometimes a Forest Charm. In the meantime go ahead and get 6 apples to sell to Myra.
You receive 1xp for completing part 1 of Better Late Than Never. Now on to part 2 of 3.
Buy an oat field for 200 gold. The oat field takes 5 minutes to build and 2 minutes to produce 3 oats, so you must harvest it twice. Go to the Trail Kitchen to cook some Apple Oatmeal (4 apple, 7 oats, 15 minutes). Since you need 7 oats for each bowl of oatmeal, you must harvest oats 5 times to get enough for two bowls.
Buy a lumber yard (level 6) from the Marketplace. A lumber yard will save you from cutting down all your Rampant Forest trees. Make 3 torches at the woodshop, and take Rafael to the Watchtower again. Rafael will find a lockbox on this trip to the Watchtower.
